What is the CANBUS module for and why do I need it?
Modern vehicles now have multiple electronic control units that monitor the many subsystems in modern cars. Things like tire pressure monitoring, door locks, etc. are all controlled via the CANBUS system. Vehicles equipped with a CANBUS lighting system monitor the function of all light bulbs in the vehicle system. When the factory bulbs are replaced with LED systems, the CANBUS detects a discrepancy in the expected current and assumes there is a fault or defective bulb, either triggering a dashboard fault or not providing power to the headlights until the Error is fixed. The CANBUS module tricks the computer into believing that everything in the system is OK and the LED lamp is being activated.
Can this be used to fix LED flickering in vehicles like Jeep?
Yes. Some American vehicles like the Jeep Wrangler have so-called PWM headlight circuits. Using our H4 CANBUS eliminates the flickering that is visible when converting to LED.
IMPORTANT: CANBUS SHUTDOWN WORKS BY CONVERTING VOLTAGE TO HEAT. FOR THIS REASON IT IS IMPORTANT TO ATTACH THE CANBUS DECODER TO A METAL PART OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AS THE OPERATING TEMPERATURE IS HIGH IN NORMAL OPERATION.
