Description
The REDARC BCDC1240D battery charger
for outdoor mounting is a 12V 40A DC-to-DC battery charger that delivers high performance in underhood installations and is molded to withstand heat, water and dust.
The BCDC1240D Classic is equipped with an MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) solar controller and can charge with both solar power and the alternator at the same time. With the built-in "Green Power Priority" it selects solar charging first, which means less load on the alternator.
The device is suitable for 12 or 24 volt vehicle systems and works with standard or variable/smart alternators.
The BCDC1240D also features patented charging profiles, including a lithium charging profile that is perfect for pairing with a REDARC lithium battery. The 'Dual' input range continues to charge all other battery types including AGM, GEL, standard lead acid and calcium batteries.
The BCDC1240D is typically used for lead-acid battery banks over 200Ah and lithium batteries over 100Ah. Check the manufacturer's specifications for your battery and ensure that the charger's continuous current does not exceed the manufacturer's recommended maximum charging current. For smaller batteries, REDARC recommends the BCDC1225D.
